Drafting Unit

Dilo designed the VE drafting unit to adjust the ratio of longitudinal and lateral strength of needlefelts. It increases the machine direction orientation of the fibres in a needlefelt after preneedling. During drafting, fibres in the horizontal plane between the stitching tufts are turned into the machine direction. In this way, the MD:CD ratio can be adjusted more precisely than with a lap drafter.
